  • 93/100 – WINE ENTHUSIAST – RIESLING 2014 Grand Cru HENGST   DOMAINE SAINT-REMY EHRHART

A very pure but subtle note of Golden Delicious apple hits the nose. The palate rounds out this ripe but tart flavor but also brightens it with lovely apple crispness and freshness. The body is dry and totally fresh with wonderful concentration, aromatic length and purity. This simply leaves you wanting more.

Anne Krebiehl – April 2017 issue

  • 93/100 – WINE ENTHUSIAST – GEWURZTRAMINER 2014 Grand Cru HENGST   DOMAINE SAINT-REMY EHRHART

Tender notes of honeysuckle and rose rise from the glass. On the palate they perfume the generous peach and mirabelle plum fruit, supported by some residual sweetness. This strikes a very harmonious balance between tender opulence an sprightly freshness. The finish is intense, tangy, medium sweet and superbly balanced.

Anne Krebiehl – April 2017 issue

  • 92/100 – WINE ENTHUSIAST – RIESLING 2014 Grand Cru SCHLOSSBERG    DOMAINE SAINT-REMY EHRHART

There is a whole orchard full of apples here: crisp and green, yellow and juicy, red and mellow and also the very aromatic red-cheeked kind. These aromas fill nose and palate and present a wonderful balance between fruity richness and absolute zesty freshness. This is lissom, dry and light bodied but full of flavor with a very mellow apple finish.

Anne Krebiehl – April 2017 issue

  • 92/100 – WINE ENTHUSIAST – CREMANT Brut DOMAINE SAINT-REMY EHRHART

The reticent nose gives almost nothing away but the palate fills with gentle flavors of shortbread and apple peel, of slightly bitter grapefruit zest and of sprays of citrussy freshness dispersed by a lively, fine-fizzing mousse. This Crémant is light and dry, restrained and subtle. The finish is elegant and very clean-cut. Anne Krebiehl (Dec. 2016)

  • 92/100 – VINOUS – GEWURZTRAMINER Lieu-dit Herrenweg 2014  DOMAINE SAINT-REMY EHRHART

Gold-tinged straw. The powerful, archetypal Gewürztraminer aromas of tropical fruits and sweet spices benefits from good floral lift. Enters the mouth rich and luscious, then develops a more austere quality in the middle. The long, creamy finish features a twinge of bitter orange marmalade and a repeating floral nuance. Classically dry, very precise Gewürztraminer. by Ian d’Agata (Feb. 2016)

  • 91+/100 – VINOUS – RIESLING Grand Cru HENGST 2013  DOMAINE SAINT-REMY

Gold-tinged yellow. Aromatic notes of lemon verbena, honey and sweet spices complicate ripe apricot and peach on the nose; very Hengst! A hint of earth complements tropical fruit flavors on the smooth, round palate, with lemony acidity giving this big wine lift, purity and precision. The long finish features repeating honey and tropical fruit nuances. This is a very successful Hengst Riesling in my book. “We know just how fortunate we are to own vines in this magnificent grand cru, » said Philippe Ehrhart. « Back in the 1930s, nobody wanted to have anything to do with the Hengst because it’s too steep and hard to work, but happily my great-grandfather thought otherwise and bought all he could. » by Ian d’Agata (Feb. 2016)

  • 91/100 – VINOUS – RIESLING Grand Cru SCHLOSSBERG 2013  DOMAINE SAINT-REMY EHRHART

Bright straw. Enticing aromas of stone fruits, quince and minerals. Juicy and vibrant in the mouth, with vivid citrus and mineral flavors showing a peppery edge and lovely floral lift on the long finish. Quite cool and crisp; I especially like this wine’s minerally Schlossberg personality. The domain owns parcels in the mid-slope of this famous grand cru; although they are not the highest or steepest part of Schlossberg, they are of extremely high quality. by Ian d’Agata (Feb. 2016)

  • 90/100 – VINOUS  –  SYLVANER 2014  DOMAINE SAINT-REMY EHRHART

Pale straw. Quince and chamomile aromas are lifted by a note of lime. Fresh and juicy in the mouth but with a powerful spine giving this a richer-than-usual mouthfeel for the grape variety. Finishes long, bright and crisp. Only indigenous yeasts were used. These 35-year-old vines are located at the bottom of the Hengst grand cru, which is known for large-scaled wines, so it’s not surprising that this is an especially big Sylvaner. by Ian d’Agata (Feb. 2016)

  • 89/100 – VINOUS – PINOT AUXERROIS  Val St-Grégoire 2014  DOMAINE SAINT-REMY

Bright straw. Delicate, easygoing aromas and flavors of apple, ripe apricot, sweet spices and honey. Dense, rather forward wine with a moderate long finish and a lovely sugar/acid balance. The Auxerrois vines grow in the Val Saint Gregoire near the Brand grand cru, on mainly granite soils, which probably contributes to this wine’s forward personality. by Ian d’Agata (Feb. 2016)

  • 89/100 – WINE ENTHUSIAST – RIESLING Lieu-dit Herrenweg 2014 DOMAINE SAINT-REMY EHRHART

A subdued nose leads to a very zesty palate, with grapefruit zest and crunchy green apple. The fruit is lively, clean and rather vivacious. Lemony freshness brightens the dry finish and makes you sip more. by Anne Krebiehl (12/2015)

  • 91/100 – WINE ENTHUSIAST – RIESLING Vieilles Vignes 2013 DOMAINE SAINT-REMY EHRHART

Wonderfully pure notes of mandarin and tart apple on the nose are joined by richer hints of burnt sugar, candied orange and honey. These are shot through with arrows of clean, fresh and pure lemon acidity that highlight the richer, honeyed notes, and also make this wine finish dry. It’s full of life and joy. by Anne Krebiehl (12/2015)

  • 90/100 – WINE ENTHUSIAST – PINOT GRIS Réserve 2013 DOMAINE SAINT-REMY EHRHART

It takes a while for the friendly, pure pear fruit to show itself. Once apparent, it shines and is wonderfully sunny, light and balanced. Fresh acidity brightens and lifts everything and makes the fruit flavors finish dry with overtones of green apple. by Anne Krebiehl (12/2015)

  • 90/100 – WINE SPECTATOR – GEWURZTRAMINER Lieu-dit Herrenweg 2013  DOMAINE SAINT-REMY EHRHART

Juicy and lightly honeyed, this finely balanced white offers white peach, candied grapefruit zest, stony mineral and ground spice notes, with an aromatic, floral overtone. Medium bodied and vibrant. by Alison Napjus (September 2015)

  • 91/100 – WINE ENTHUSIAST – GEWURZTRAMINER Grand Cru HENGST 2012  DOMAINE SAINT-REMY  EHRHART

While this wine is sweet, it’s balanced by its acidity and fresh yellow and white fruits. That gives a dense and concentrated wine already well in harmony with its crisp, fresh core. It needs more aging, so wait until 2017. by Roger Voss  (04/01/2015)

  • 90/100 – WINE ENTHUSIAST – GEWURZTRAMINER Lieu-dit Herrenweg 2013  DOMAINE SAINT-REMY  EHRHART

Initially quite muted, this wine slowly develops impressive richness and spice. It’s not sweet, more medium dry, with the spice forming a core of dryness that contrasts with the honeyed texture. It can develop more, so wait to drink until 2016.                by Roger Voss (04/01/2015)

Big, rich and rounded, this is as much a wine about sweet tropical fruits as about spiciness. It has weight, concentration and a full, honeyed character. For the wine to fully integrate, it should be aged over 3–4 years.   by Roger Voss  (10/1/2013)
